How to choose a School for your child?
ðOne of the
tension giving questions for almost all or many of the parents.
Most of the
parents in this scenario are very confused?
- First of all they are confused about the age of the child…
What is the
right age for a child to be sent to the school?
- Secondly they are puzzled about the medium…
Which medium
of instructions would be more effective for my child?
- Thirdly they are in a big dilemma of board selection….
Which is the
better or beneficial board for my child’s goal?
Let us
discuss one by one all the aspects. Basically what is needed to select a school
for our child as a fresher parent?
- What should be the ideal age for a child to be sent to school?
It is
discussed many times and referred in many of the studies that the ideal age for
a child to be sent to school should be six years. In government schools they
give admission in grade 1 at 5 years. In Anganwadi they give admission at 3+
years but as the trend is most of the parents are in hurry to send their child to
the school as early as possible, at times it is seen that a child is sent to
some school at a very small age of 9 months which is very unbelievable - but
it's true.
Now if we
see this condition in a different way, think you don’t want to send your child
to the school but think you are sending him or her to a place where he learns
to develop his personality, motor skills and interests in various spheres
of life, But the condition is that place
should have the corners and the space for your child’s interest.
I think that during the time of infancy i.e. ago of 0 to 5 years children learn to control the co relation of their brain with other parts of their body, we call them motor skill development process. So choose a school which allows your child to do a lot of activities to develop their motor skills. Just think seriously what do you want your child to learn? It’s just A ,B , C or you want your child to learn the real lessons of life that is being sensible with the living beings and nature, loving the family, been generous and humble to the needy, caring for the nature, become a thoughtful and sincere citizen of tomorrow… OR you just want him to earn money and spend the life like a common man? Decide it at this point - Right now!

Decide it at this point - Right now!
Now lets solve
the second puzzle
- Which medium of instructions would be more effective for my child?
So be very careful while selecting the medium of instruction for your child. We live in a nation where diversity is seen in language so we should have a common medium to communicate with fellow men and people of the world at large.
Our child is anyhow going to learn our mother tongue but they need to be taught the national and international languages to communicate with the world and to be a Global Citizen. So choose a medium of instruction for your child which would help him to grow in his future and communicate with the world keeping his roots in the ground. The Environment of the school should be in any style but should teach the values of our culture.
Now moving
on to the next important question…
- Which is the better or beneficial board for my child’s goal?
Various
boards like GSEB, CBSE, IB, Cambridge are available for selection but first
decide the motive behind selection of any board.
Generally parents are confused in selection of boards for their wards between state or central boards but in the current scenario its very simple as governments of all the states are switching towards ‘One India One Syllabus” where in all the schools around the nation will follow this pattern of education which will be common everywhere and also beneficial for the students who have to switch schools for their parents job and also it aids in the public exams preparations.

Now its not
absolutely necessary for parents to select a particular board for some specific
reasons of public exam or transfers. Parents should select a school on the
basis of the pattern and syllabus followed in the school should be based on the
central board. So it becomes very convenient for the parents to select a
particular school as per their child’s need.
Hope these suggestions and guidelines would definitely help the parents in selecting a better school for their child. As schooling _ a Good Schooling plays a very vital role in character building of a child’s life.
